Hirable Spaces

The Meteor consists of two hirable spaces: -

Gallery Space During a Launch Function

Gallery

  • 18 m x 6 m normally used as an exhibition, meeting or a foyer space.
  • The Gallery is suitable for functions up to 100 (standing).

The Meteor Black Box Themed for a Private Function

Auditorium (Black Box)

  • 17.82 m x 21.24 m
  • Height to steel grid and pipe work 5.2 m
  • There is a lighting gallery situated upstairs overlooking the auditorium west side.
  • Auditorium capacity 485
  • Theatre seating mode with stage space is up to 250                    
  • There are four separate movable tiered seating risers, which hold 20 seats each. Using chairs approximately 250 patrons may be seated. (For best sightlines use max 200)    
  • PN: The theatre has a maximum of 250 seats available.                                                          

Auditorium access

Access can be facilitated from the workshop (north end) via large removable wall panels or single doors. Access to/ from the foyer/Gallery is via three double exit doors. There are two exits to the west side into the bar / lounge area and one to Victoria St on the east side.

Backstage facilities

There is a green room / lounge area only.

The Meteor Equipment

The following equipment is generally available, to ensure the appropriate equipment is available please forward the appropriate lighting, sound and rigging schedules well in advance of the booking.

Lighting Equipment

  • 30 Par 64 Cans                                   
  • 30 Selecon SF1000 Fresnel’s

Dimmer & Ancillary Equipment

  • 36 Dimmers (3x road packs) (DMX)
  • 300 series Strand Console 120 channels
  • 4x    Temporary Supplies on Dimmer Floor (PDL56 32amp 3phase, Neutral & Earth)
  • 2x   Temporary Supply on auditorium floor level PDL56 32 amp 3phase (opposite corners)
  • 1x   Temporary Supply on auditorium floor level Ceeform 63 Amp 3phase

Patching

There are no permanent patching lines in the venue. There are multi looms and cables available for patching to the dimmers. Dimmers are at grid level on the lighting gallery

Lighting Filters

  • We use the Lee numeric system in all our luminaires.
  • We keep a good stock of Filters.

Sound

There is no sound system installed but a small portable sound system is available.
(This needs to be booked ahead of time and may not always be available)

General Notes

There are a reasonable number of alloy pipes of varying lengths that may be suspended from the grid to facilitate either lighting or curtain hanging.   These may be placed in an almost infinite number of places or angles.  All rigging must be supervised and approved by the duty Technician.

A 5m scaffold tower is available for rigging.
