- The apron stage lowers to form an orchestra pit approximately 12m x 5m. It cannot be extended. The apron can be positioned at any level below stage.

Dressing Rooms
There are 11 numbered dressing rooms available, 1 and 2 located directly behind the stage, 3 and 4 off OP side of stage and the balance on the first floor on O.P.
The Guest Room (rehearsal/seminar space)
A rehearsal/seminar room is also available within the theatre accessible from the stage door on the ground floor. This room may be hired separately for functions or rehearsals and workshops or in conjunction with theatre hire as a dressing/warm-up room. Max. 50 persons.
Other
The venue has two Steinway Model D 9’ Grand Pianos and a Bluthner upright piano.
The following equipment is generally available, to ensure the appropriate equipment is available please forward the appropriate lighting, sound and rigging schedules well in advance of the booking.
A Genie GS-1930 electric self propelled scissors hoist is usually available for focusing and rigging, maximum working height 7.6m, 227kg lift capacity.
Intercoms
There is a full dial up system available throughout the building. There are 5 talk back/clearcom packs available for use by production staff in addition to the stage managers master station.
Temporary Power
Available from stage level switchboard on prompt side of stage. All supplies are individually fused at their full rating. Total supply from this switchboard is 600 amps per phase.

Dimmers & Ancillary Equipment
- 240 channels of Theatrelight 2.4Kw dimmers (serial input only) 4x DMX to T/L transceivers installed.
- Strand 530 Lighting desk with Genius+ Pro software.
It should be noted that the dimmer racks can only be dialed to a multiple of ten ie. they dial up in groups of ten and must start on an address which is a multiple of ten (eg. 000, 020 etc.).
Front of House Lighting Positions
FOH 1:
- 3.4m in front of pit edge / apron stage
- 9.9m stage level to bar
- Channels 31 to 72 are available at the FOH 1 patching panel.
- Four contactor-controlled points are available at this bar.
FOH 2:
- 9.8m in front of pit edge / apron stage
- 9.5m stage level to bar
- Channels 1 to 30 are available at the FOH 2 patching panel.
- Two contactor-controlled points are available at this bar.
FOH Perches:
- 4.5m in front of pit edge / apron stage
- 3.0m above stage to bottom of perch
- 5.7m useable height in perch
- The perches are split into two levels; each level will hold four of our CCT Profiles and has patch points available. They patch at the FOH 1 patching panel.
Apron Perches:
- 0.9m in front of main stage edge
- 2.7m behind pit edge
- 3.0m above stage to bottom of perch
- 5.0m useable height in perch
- The onstage perches each have eight patching points available. They patch at the Stage Platform patching panel.
Onstage Lighting Positions
General Notes:
There are five spot bars on stage, all double hung. Spot bars one to three all have x-ray battens on their higher level and a lower pipe for general rigging. Three of the patching circuits (A, B & C) on each of these bars is normally dedicated to the x-ray battens. Spot bar five is the cyc lighting bar. See grid plan for positions.
Box Booms:
- 1.1m behind the proscenium arch
- 3.0m above the stage
- 2.9m useable height in the boom
- Each box boom has six patching points and patch at the stage platform patching panel.
Patching
Onstage Patching:
There are nine cable dips on stage. The PS and OP side dips each contain six patching sockets and the upstage dips each have three patching sockets. There is a single cable dip in front of the proscenium arch on PS with six patching sockets; all sockets patch at the platform patching panel.
- There are three patching lines available at stage level on each side of the proscenium arch. These patch at the stage platform patching panel.
- The stage platform patching panel has channels 73 to 120 with four contactor controlled points available.
- There are five panels available on the OP fly floor each in line with a spot bar position. Each panel has available 12 waylines to the dimmer floor (not yet completed) and one contactor controlled point.
- The contactor points are all rated at 10 amps and are switched from a panel in the stage managers corner, P.S.
Gel Types and Colours
We use Chris James gel in all our luminaires.
We keep a good stock of the Chris James range of gels.
Sound Systems
Mixer:
The mixer is a Allen & Heath ML3000, 32 Ch , 8x VCA , LCR. There are 8 auxiliary sends.
Speaker System:
The Speaker system is a Meyer system consisting of LCR flown line array. Left and Right consist of 8 x M1D and 2 x M1D-sub each. The Centre cluster consists of 10 x M1D. The speakers are fed via a BSS Soundweb DSP. The DSP settings are not adjustable by the user.
Two additional 400w amplifiers are available in the rack to drive foldback or auxiliary speakers. There are 4 x Turbosound 12” + horn wedges available with 4 x monitor sends prewired.

Waylines:
There are a total of 98 waylines to the sound desk, 12 return waylines to the stage managers corner and 31 foldback speaker waylines from the amp rack.
FOH PA rigging positions are available over the Apron forward of the Proscenium arch on either side of stage. Note these are independent of the House PA rigging points
Standard Cloths Available
- 6 x pairs of black wool serge legs
- 5 x black wool serge borders
- 3 x tabbed black wool serge curtains
- 1 x full white PVC cyclorama
Flying
There are 48 sets of lines available: 24 of these are counter weighed, the remaining 24 being hand lines. They are all controlled from the OP fly floor.
The tab tracks and spot bars are on hand winches on the PS fly floor. All winch lines rise a maximum of 8.6m above the stage floor. The head battens are 13.5m long.
Sound Shell wall (ply on timber frame) is flown on C/W W with a triple cradle – please advise if this is required for the performance or to be removed if C/W W is required.
